Ischemic disorders

Disorders that are caused by the lack of oxygen due to poor blood flow to an area of the body. Ischemic disorders are generally caused by problems with blood vessels. Ischemic disorders lead to the death of tissues, especially tissues that require high levels of oxygen such as the heart, the brain, nerves and the kidneys. BioTime’s subsidiary ReCyte is developing methods to repair the problems with blood vessels that can lead to ischemic disorders.
