Dendritic cell cancer vaccine

A dendritic cell cancer vaccine is a treatment for cancer that uses dendritic cells to teach the patient’s immune system to attack the patient’s cancer. The technology to create the vaccine is new and requires that a type of cell, called a “dendritic cell” to be grown to large numbers in the lab and engineered to teach the patient’s immune system to recognize and attack their cancer. Without this vaccine, a patient does not have sufficient quantities of the correct type of dendritic cells to mount a successful attack on their cancer.
